Carolyn Petty, President of TaxFree Shopping, ltd., was awarded two SASI-ONE Gold Awards at the ONE Travel Conference's SASI ONE Awards Breakfast, Thursday, February 7 in Costa Mesa, California.
"SASI-ONE Awards (SASI = Shop America Salutes Innovation) recognize prominent leaders in the tourism industry for their vision and commitment to developing shopping and cultural tourism," said Rosemary McCormick President of Shop America Alliance.
TaxFree Shopping is known for pioneering the way toward making shopping a recognized form of tourism for Texas, and, the U.S. With TaxFree Shopping's role, shopping tourism is now recognized as a major economic driver in the international travel market.
Petty's second SASI Gold Award was for her "Shopping Tourism Training for the 21st Century," program. The program was designed to strengthen the relationship between travel professionals and the newest form of tourism, shopping tourism.
Through a new and innovative company in the UK, Online Travel Training (OTT), which provides online training courses to tour operators and travel industry professionals, TaxFree Shopping introduced shopping via a special eLearning programme as the newest form of tourism to 60,000 travel industry professionals. Petty said, "Providing these gatekeepers of international shopping travellers with shopping tourism information is an industry first and is indispensable to the newly recognized bracket of tourism."
